Death Valley National Park Photography Workshop timing of year?

1 year 4 weeks ago #750417 by Noah J
Morning all, I'd like to do a photography workshop in Death Valley before the horrible heat kicks in.  When do things really start to heat up there?  Or better yet incase it's getting that way already, when do you recommend is the best time of the year to look at dates there?

The folks who run the workshops know the best times. Here are a few:

The best time to visit Death Valley to photograph it would be when the sun is up and the camera battery is fully charged!

But on a more serious note, Death Valley can be an amazing place to photograph year-round. In general, the best times to visit are during the cooler months of the year, between November and March, when temperatures are more bearable and the light is generally softer and more forgiving.

Of course, if you're looking to capture some truly epic and dramatic images, you might want to plan your visit around the rare rainstorms that occasionally pass through the area. These storms can create amazing opportunities for capturing lightning strikes and vivid cloud formations against the stark desert landscape. Just be sure to keep an eye on the weather forecast and pack accordingly, as flash floods are a real danger in the area!

May through September are the warm months.  Let me reword that... HOT months.  But those happen to be the best months for milky way shots as well.  So food for thought.

Milky Way times are during summer months with the hotter heat, no avoiding that.  You can head over to Alabama Hills which is slightly west and still see Milky Way and avoid a little less heat.

Well if you plan on heading during next few months, you better get out there sooner than later.  It starts getting warm this time of the year.  During next 45 days you can expect significant temp increases.
