“Amateurish” photographer here. :) A friend of mine is leaving her home-state for the first time in her life. She wanted to do some “farewell” photos to remember her time in the state, but also show excitement for the future. She wants to do the photo shoot on her old college campus, and For props, I know she has a shirt with her new city name on it. I struggling coming up with original ideas for this unique photo shoot. Ha! Thank you so much for your help!

Let's see...
  1. New City Shirt: Have her wear the shirt with her new city name and pose with a sign or object representing her home-state. This will symbolize her transition from her home-state to her new destination.
  2. Landmarks and Favorite Spots: Take photos of her at significant spots around campus, such as the library, a favorite coffee shop, or a memorable classroom. You can also have her hold a map of her new city to show excitement for the future.
  3. Chalk Messages: Write farewell messages, quotes, or future aspirations with chalk on the pavement, and take pictures of her standing or sitting next to them.
  4. Suitcase and Travel Gear: Incorporate a suitcase, backpack, or other travel gear to symbolize her upcoming journey. She could be posed sitting on the suitcase or have it open with clothes and souvenirs spilling out.
  5. Friends and Family: Include her friends and family members in some of the photos, as they represent her support system and the people she'll miss. They can hold up signs with messages like "We'll miss you!" or "Good luck in [new city]!"
  6. Candid Shots: Capture some candid moments of her laughing, walking, or interacting with the environment to create a more natural and genuine feel.
  7. Use a drone: If you have access to a drone, consider taking some aerial shots of her on campus to give a different perspective and a unique touch to the photoshoot.
  8. Themed Photos: If there's a particular theme or hobby that represents her time in the state, consider incorporating that into the photos. For example, if she was an avid hiker, have her pose with hiking gear or at a nearby trail.
  9. Silhouettes and Shadows: Experiment with lighting to create interesting silhouette or shadow images. This can add a dramatic and artistic touch to the photos.
  10. Create a Photo Story: Plan the shoot as a story, capturing her journey from her early days on campus to her last moments there. This can include photos of her packing up her belongings, saying goodbye to her favorite spots, and even her final departure.
Remember to have fun and focus on capturing the essence of her journey. Good luck with the photo shoot!

Actually one more just came to mind... Time Capsule: Start with a photo of her holding a box or jar filled with mementos from her time in the state (e.g., photos, postcards, small souvenirs). She can later open the time capsule after a few years to relive those memories.
