Why do greens become more saturated than other colors out of camera?

I'm Nikon shooter and I've always noticed that greens seem to have more saturation out of my cameras then other colors.  Why is that?

This should visually answer your question. This is the rgb sensor array. Fuji is slightly different.

WOW, thank you, that is a very visual graphic.  So is there a fix around this?

Depending on the software being used, you could develop and save a preset to be applied upon import for developing or applied to a jpg upon opening.
PS. Most greens are usually made up of more yellow than green.

I've always found reds more problematic. That said, you can set parameters in the menu as to saturation and other levels. That's what controls what you see on your LCD screen when you review your images...

Oh wow, I had no idea on this.  So RAW photos before the camera applies corrections must have a heavier green presence?
