Camera repair shop

My camera is out of warranty and I would like to get it sent in for service. It's a older D200 that I bought used and it hasn't worked right in months. Any recommended warranty shops that won't charge me a arm and leg?

Whats wrong with it? I have used KEH.com repair for cameras and lens and been very happy in the past.

Have you called up Nikon just to see about some basic or known trouble shooting you can do?

This may be something superficial you can fix yourself:

1. Take your CF card out of the slot, get a flashlight, and check carefully for missing pins, bent pins, or pins that are touching each other. Bent or missing pins cause weird things to happen, including total cameral electronic failure. Once bent back, the camera usually works fine.

2. If pins are good, thoroughly clean the battery contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol. Chances are you've had your D200 a while, and the contacts can get patina; or worse, green colored acid corrosion if you've left a battery in there.

If this fails, I'd check to see if the repair quote is worth it. Sometimes getting a used camera body is cheaper than fixing a broken one.

Good luck, tell us what happens
