Equipment insurance?

Are there any insurance companies that specialize in camera equipment? Do you have your equipment insured? With who?

As long as you are not using your gear professionally, you can usually insure it through your Homeowners or Renters insurance policy. Make sure you get replacement cost coverage so they don't depreciate the gear over time.. Otherwise ask your agent about coverage under a business policy.

Are you insured as a pro or though your homeowners policy? Would you mind if I asked what they charge for that? Thanks for the help Scott.

I just insure some of my gear on my Homeowners policy as an endorsement. Only costs a few dollars per every $100 insured per year. They will need sales receipts on whatever you add.

That isn't bad at all, will they cover the complete replacement cost? I'm sure it depends on the policy. Definitely worth looking into though. :cheer:

I would be interested to know how much do they cover. I didn't know you could insure your camera equipment.

Insurers will vary in their coverage rates & exclusions...Ask your local agent & then shop around.

For a couple hundred a year, what is there to think about. That's cheap piece of mind if you ask me.
