What type of case do you use.....

I will be flying to Italy later this month and I want to take my camera.
What is the best way to pack your camera, and what is the best case to use. I have heard of people using hard cases for there camera when flying. So does anyone have recommendations?

I would bring your camera body on board with you as a carry on. There are a number of cases that will work well for under the plane. I believe Think Tank makes a hard case.

This is fine advice, do not check your camera gear. Find a backpack or hard case you can carry on. Keep it with you at ALL times.....

Why so serious?

I've flown with several types of cases. If you are going overseas, I would try to find a bag that doesn't look like a camera bag as cameras are one of the most stolen items especially in Italy....I've read where some people kept their gear in a diaper bag to foil would be thieves...Not something I'd do though...I also second carrying all your gear as carry on with the exception of a tripod..
