What are thoughts on battery grips?

I have a D90 and was wondering if battery grips are worth the money? So far the best price I've found is $179 for a Nikon. Now I did find a Satechi battery grip for $119, anyone have one of these?

My opinion on battery grips is that they're not a requirement for most, but they sure are nice to have. I have one for my 30D and 50D, the extra gripping space gets me a little more comfortable/stable, and it's really nice not having to pause to change batteries on the long outings. If you have a couple hundred bucks to throw around, sure it's well worth it.

I always thought they added additional sturdiness to a camera's feel

I agree with the previous replies. I have a Canon 1D MarkIII and a Canon 7D ... By adding a grip to the 7D both cameras have a similar feel. I also like the additional battery life that the grip provides.

Grips are not a necessity .... if you do not like the feel of a large camera body, do not shoot for long periods of time all at once (i.e. and all day adventure). Keep in mind that the grip will add some weight to the camera body too ... just another consideration.
