Sony A7 III still a good camera to get?

I was thinking about getting a Sony, and budget points to the Sony A7 III.  But is this still a good camera to get considering what's coming around the corner from Sony and Canon?  I guess budget rules, but would you buy or continue to save?

The A7 III is an excellent image maker. The EVF and rear screen fall behind it's rivals now but it probably still has the best autofocus of comparable cameras. The truth is, no one makes a bad camera now. Some excel in one area while another will best it in another area. Nikon Z6 is a very close competitor and in my opinion, more of a pleasure to use but in CAF and eye focus it lags slightly behind the A7 III but not by much. It all depends on what you prefer and need.

I just got one. The main reason I chose it was because of the lens choice which Canon and Nikon's mirrorless systems can't match yet. And it's particularly the case at the more reasonable price points. Canon have gone really high end with most of their lenses for the RF mount, and they don't yet have the same selection of third party lenses. I got a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 with mine for just over $1100. For Canon, I'd have to spend $2k for the Canon equivalent.

The Sony a7 III is an entry-level camera that moves beyond the basics in features. It has great image quality, 10fps subject tracking, and 4K video capture. As per your budget, Sony a7 III is the best one.
