It's got impact Joie. Much more than others you've shown us here.

Do you know the story behind it? That would make it more of a journalistic photo, and make it publishable.

Sadly, the backstory doesn't add to the drama of this photo.... If I am remembering correctly, the surfer was actually standing talking with a friend about 10 or 15 feet back and had his board rested on the sand when this wave came up. I had just happened to turn and saw the wave coming so I flipped the camera to capture something, and this is what I got... You definately get to learn the surf and how the waves will react living by the beach all your life... I saw a possible opportunity and took it... I hope knowing the story doesn't lessen the impact for you...

Thanks for the comments.

This photo really tells a story and your title says it all Joie, we wouldnt have known the surfer was there if you hadnt said, just the board with the red flag and that huge wave portray the story of the surfer being lost !!!! :judge: :judge: :judge:

IF you had more time for this shot (from your description it was a bit of a "opportune" pic so I forgive you), I'd have gotten a bit closer so you could get the board a bit more dominant in the shot. It's sorta lost in the picture now.
