Wow, got off to a good start this season, couldn't wait for Cyclones ECHL hockey to begin so I made the road trip to Kalamazoo Michigan last weekend to cover the opening game of the season. Here are a few of the shots I took while covering the tilt for Pro Hockey News.com

Hope Y'all enjoyed these pix that I took at the K-Wings vs. Cyclones season opener

Nice portrait of the goalie, that's a great photo of him - their masks are cool to photograph. Was wondering when you hadn't posted yet since the season started if you were busy shooting for the magazine.

Seeing your photos reminded me I have some old pictures of the K-Wings from an exhibition game the Cyclones played up my way at old Goggin arena, when guys like Biggsy and Dionne were still playing (geez hate to think how long ago that was!) Was thinking their team colors look like they changed, are they affiliated with Detroit? - their goalie's helmet looks it.

Sharon- the colors have changed with afilliations to the New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks, the old green and white replaced by red and white.

Great to hear from you Rob. It's also refreshing to see someone excited about their work and getting fired up about it. :woohoo: :judge: :owned: Love the photos. Please keep sharing them with us... :woohoo:

I have a question... In a round number - how many clicks do you take in a typical game? I know in action photography there are bound to be a missed shot here and there. I'm wondering what percentage make the cut.

Well Charles I shoot 900-1000, Edit to 100-200 then submit 20 or so per article to the magazine in order to get 6 that actually get published. I shoot many more than needed in order to have the widest selection available for both teams because some teams have a writer but no photographer.
It seems like a lot but it really is worth it when the editor asks if I have a pic of a player later on in the season.
