Dramatization of Portraits

I have been into portraits since the time I began photography. Initially I used to play only with what was available with the camera and available lights. Then I stepped into artificial lighting (using a flashgun or sometimes an electronic torch or diffusing the on-camera flash).

Recently I have been reading, and also trying various dramatic techniques to enhance portraits. Can we share our views on how to dramatize portraits based on our way of imagination?

Well it sounds like you are asking particularly about lighting? What exactly do you mean by dramatize? Portraits can be made dramatic by dramatic angles, different focal lengths, and, yes, lighting techniques.

Okay I should have made this part clear, sorry! :P

What I mean by dramatization is processing the photos on Photoshop. Sometimes I land up with photos which aren't appealing SOOC, but after editing them rightly, I get exactly what I was expecting while clicking. If I could get some inputs in this regard...

OK, let's try this again.

It would be helpful if you asked specific questions, or made specific statements, and added images to illustrate what you're wanting to discuss. As it stands, this thread is so generic as to have no meaning.

Yes, editing can produce an image that fulfills the vision of the photographer. That's kinda how it works. If you wish to being a conversation about that, you might try making a statement that is to your point.
