How to erase in jpegs?

Hi,Years ago on another computer I had a photo editing program that was great for erasing things. You rubbed it where you wanted to remove stuff and kept rubbing until it was gone, not swiping over an area and everything you touched is gone right immediately. The other way seemed to allow more control. I can't remember the name of it but it wasn't an online program it was one I downloade and it must have been free or I wouldn't have had it. Can anyone suggest a free program that will do that? I recently downloade Photo Pos Pro v3 and it has an errase tool, but if it will do what I mentioned I haven't figured out how yet. I'd like to be able to erase unwanted sections and also to take the cleaned up image and insert it in another picture. That program I had did all that, but I can't remember what it was...Thank you for any help!DavidMaine, USA

Ok. Are you using adobe photoshop cc because of cc including more and creative tools? pen tool, erase tool, Magic tool, lightroom. If you not please send me an Image and mention that which part you erase in Jpegs. This is your best opportunity.

The best option is to use adobe photoshop tool. you can easily do your task.

It has nothing to do with a given app but with specific tools!

Theses tools are the healing and cloning brushes that maybe
call with different names but both are in many pixel editing
apps.

The clone tool is a copy/paste tool. Most practical when it is
a simple matter of eliminating distracting objects but it is not
the most versatile tool.

The healing tool is the real miracle maker as it can repair and
clone with the additional blending feature. The inpainting tool
in Affinity Photo is my favourite by far.

Are you referring to the eraser tool where you can actually erase parts of the image to the point of it becoming transparent using layers and such?  It could be a setting where the brush is more feathered and not just erasing 100% of what is under the brush requiring multiple strokes.

If "you" is me, no.

The eraser tool would not be appropriate the way I
understood the OP because it would create a trans-
parent "hole" in the image.
Light is free… capturing it is not!

"You" is OP.  

I was asking just to offer another option for the OP to figure out what the tool was since he said "rub until it was gone."

Okay, Are you using photoshop pen tool from photoshop CC, erase tool, Magic tool, Lightroom etc. If you do not do please send me an Image and mention that which part you need to erase in Jpegs. I appreciate to erase the part. Thanks
