Very technical question--correct pixel dimensions

3 years 5 months ago #700129 by damong88
I am not a photographer (fantastic way to start a post, right?). I'm a filmmaker who dabbles in photography, and who knows enough about the crossover aspects of both mediums to know basically what I'm doing when I'm editing photos. But I am at a loss for one important thing. I'm preparing one of my short films for Amazon Prime and need to create a 3x4 still image for key art that is sized to AT LEAST 1200 pixels in width. This is the one image that continues to be a roadblock for this process. I find it a little peculiar that they need such a narrow frame sized in such a specific way. Could someone please tell me the pixel dimensions I need to put in for a 3x4 image that has a width of 1200 pixels or more? If not, a simple formula for figuring this out on my own would work.

Thanks in advance.

In your example:

long side (1200 px) ÷ 4 x 3 =  900 px.
        "      (1600 px)       "        1200 px.

ADDENDUM

In your app, setting the long edge and the aspect
ratio will perform the final image correctly.
