Jobless in Southern California

According to what I read, Riverside County - and its neighbor, San Bernardino County - are two of the hardest hit counties in the state of California for unemployment. If my story's anything like others, it's true. Graduated high school in June all full of enthusiasm. 6 months later - not so much. Unless I want to work at McDonald's, I'm out of options. Not particularly interested in college, but maybe I'll go just for something to do.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Ahh it's a pretty common dilemma. You need job experience to get a job, but you can't get job experience without getting that job in the first place. It's a sticky situation.

What you need is someone to give you a chance, then you'll be able to get the job experience you need.

Ever thought of doing some sort of trade?

Kind of. There are so many people with masters, bachelors and associates fresh out of college nobody will hire because the market is flooded. Honestly, college has become more of a business then a consultant for jobs.

It doesn't hurt to have a college education though...it's just more who you know now more than ever.
