Sorry if this was brought up in the past, however, it has been an observation of mine and thought I would bring it up for discussion.

I noticed that 80-90% of the inspirational photos of the day are landscapes. They are amazing shots and I undertsand how lamen and photographers alike can appreciate it, but it I have pretty much stopped looking at them altogether and given up on the idea of ever having anything featured. There is just not enough that applies to me any longer with it (I Learned a bit at first, now I gain little).

That being said, are 80-90% of the photographers here specializing in landscape.

Hi there,

Well I think you are giving up kind of soon.  Giving up on being inspired?  After all, you have only been on the site for a short time.  You see friend, the inspirational photos of the day are scheduled out weeks in advance.

I would say 50-60% of the photos are landscapes, with the rest spread out through other areas.

Now... with all that said, I'm sure you are familiar with the proverbial phrase "patience is a virtue".  Well, I will say, one of your photos was added to our editorial calendar last Friday.  I'm not going to tell you what photo it is, nor can I tell you what date it will go live (I don't schedule them, however can see one was selected).  Well, I can give you a hint, it will be in the next 3 weeks.  :)

Keep up the shooting!

Alex

Wow! Thank you so much for replying to this.

I believe I miscommunicated when I said about being featured. I see the work of others and it’s extremely humbling. When I said I gave up on the idea, it was not because I wasn’t featured, it’s just that I I felt like perhaps macro just isn’t as popular. I have no delusions and sometimes even feel like my work just doesn’t stack up.

Then again, I remind myself I have been at this less than a year while others have put in a life time of work.

Thanks again. Your reply was both kind and encouraging!

You might be surprised at how recently many quality photographers picked up the habit....

Why so serious?

You are so welcome friend!

I want to address something that Effron has also commented on.  And that is, your time behind the camera.  I have had the honor and opportunity to interview 200+  amazing photographers over the years.  Many of these photographers have only been in photography for a short period of time compared to others.  Yet their work is nothing short of extraordinary.

I read a lot and enjoy a good quote.  So I'm going to share a little food for thought for you: "We don't have to be smarter than the rest.  We have to be more disciplined than the rest." - Warren Buffett.
