My alleged sense of humor

Is this a good place for a pointless but possibly slightly amusing anecdote?

My wife frequently tells me that I am not nearly as funny as I think I am--that my sense of humor is skewed and when I try to make a funny comment, it often leaves people perplexed.

This bride is an example.  A few years ago I was at a beach just casually visiting.  I saw this bride posing for photographs by a professional.  When they were done I asked if I could grab a snapshot or two--I had a point-and-shooter in my pocket.

She let me grab a couple of snaps, smiling prettily.  Then as I tucked the camera back in my pocket, I said something I thought was funny:  "By the way, miss, if you're going swimming, be sure to rinse that dress and hang it out to dry as soon as you get home."   This struck me as hilarious.  The bride looked at me as if I were an escaped mental patient.  :-/  My wife appears to be right; I'm not as funny as I think I am.

I always thought having a unique sense of humor was a bonus.
Laughing at the movies at a comedy at all the spots where everyone else is quiet was cool.
But yes, using clever comedy on the rest of the people that laugh at the other jokes at the comedy movie, not cool.
