Wish I hadn't read that. My heart melts when I see animals injured or in trouble. A police officer and I rescued a Canada Goose gosling that was tangled in fishing line in the river a few weeks ago. I couldn't just let it go, but I was afraid of getting attacked by the nearby protective parents. I asked a nearby officer who to call and he came down to the river with me to check it out. The two of us together seemed to intimidate the parents, as they moved away. I waded out to the gosling and brought it to shore and the officer used his knife to cut the line. I was teary-eyed when the gosling skimmed across the water to reunite with it's parents. Sure, practice makes perfect but, unless you learn from your mistakes, you are only perfecting your ability to fail.

Very true! I had "build-it-yourself" schematics for a "commercial zapper" that I got from an electronics magazine at one time but didn't know what it was. I know now it senses the rise in volume and clips it, much like the auto level sensor does on an audio tape. That's why some self-recordings have a loud part just when the music starts, then lowers.Here's one I found online if anyone is interested. It's meant for radio but audio is audio, so it will work for TV as well:
