Photography Tip: Creating dramatic portraits with dark backgrounds
I find it much easier to control the darkness of the background using a flag (aka a Cutter, which is really just a type of flag). The 45 degree Rembrandt isn't quite there either. The light needs to be higher (and aimed down a bit). But hey, it's just another YouTube expert.
Nice work for a very simple and basic setup. Shows that anyone can do it.
And for all you guys who want to add... Who does he think he is to attack a YouTube guru??!!
I learned portrait lighting 25 years ago from the best in portraiture. There were no YouTube giants to be found back then. There were only those who learned from a master and passed it down the line. Till it reached silly students like me.
