party photos

hello, im am shooting my first party ( other than family parties) its going to be in a club like conditions, its going to be pretty dark. does anyone have any tips for me . i will just be using my nikon d3000 with the on camera flash. if anyone could give me a few pointers that would be awesome! thanks!

best advice try to diffuse that flash or your photographs will be full of red eye :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

try an offcamera flash arm - those help you stabilize your shots and also gives the flash a little bit of offcamera angle to your shots.

I shot a family reunion once (my own family)... I think the best picture of the whole lot is the one ive attached (LOL)

I shoot events for cash money dollars etc.

I recommend bounce flashing and using Single Shot focus mode so the flash will help you focus. Also as high an ISO as you can stand to use.

Also shoot manual and TRY to get the settings at about 1 stop below ambient. This will let some ambient light be in the shot and will prevent only the flashed subject being the thing "not in the dark".

Advice is for people who might stumble across this thread in the future BTW> I know the "deed" has been "done" already. :pinch:
