Good general overview. The one item that should have been mentioned is that the exposure compensation settings do not work when a Nikon camera is in manual mode.

I've been at the D-SLR thing for about 3 years, but admittedly still have a lot to learn. I happen to shoot Canon, but I don't think it makes a difference (I could be wrong).

When I heard him specifically say 'manual mode' in the video regarding exposure compensation, that confused me. Is it possible to use exposure compensation (as in the actual setting by that name in the camera menus) in manual? In manual, isn't it just a matter of changing the exposure in general since you're in control off all of the settings? Or am I wrong there?

If I'm not asking that clearly, in manual wouldn't you simply change your shutter speed, aperture or ISO off of what shows as the correct exposure to achieve "exposure compensation"? Or is there something else that I'm missing?

Sorry to post to such an old thread, but it was linked on Facebook recently and I just watched it for the first time. :)

Thanks!

My 50D ignores EC in manual mode, even if the AutoISO is in effect.  However, EC does still apply to the TTL flash output, even in manual mode.
