Fill Light or Bounce

When shooting an indoor wedding would you use a fill light or bounce your flash?

I don't shoot weddings. But I suspect that this will vary with the circumstances. Fill light should not exceed ambient light, so if the ambient light is very low, fill does not change that problem. Bouncing light off a high ceiling will also be problematic. Bouncing off a card on the light, or using direct light with a diffuser (large, not small) may be safest. Different strokes for different folks. Links for more ideas -

Yes. B)

Not trying to be flippant but the answer depends on the environment. Questions like these can't be answered without specifics. Part of becoming a good photographer is deciding which tool or technique to use to achieve your goal in the circumstances in which you find yourself.

Both at the same time. I don't shoot wedding much, but I do shoot events.

Majority of the time, if I'm shooting flash at all, it will be bounced off something. Usually a wall. I look around before shooting to see what would be a good surface to bounce off and then I used that surface as a large soft-box supplementing the light already in the scene.
