How to Create Effects with Powder and Flash

Not too long ago, a photo was featured on Photography Talk's Facebook page that really got a lot of attention. The photographer used a theatrical backdrop and created "wings" on a model with powder. Since there were so many comments asking how it was done, I did a little searching and found 3 videos on the suibject that I thought were worth sharing. In this first one, The Photo Extremist walks you through a shoot, along with an overview of the lighting used:



In the next one, Photographer Trevor Brooks Hamlett spends a day in a warehouse with several dancers creating some amazing images, many of which involve powder:



In the final one, Daves Digs does a powder shoot with 8 Canon 600EV-RT Speedlites and an ST-E3-RT transmitter , PLUS he throws in a real twist: A TRAMPOLINE. The results are spectacular:
