Seems like a pretty comprehensive list. I really enjoy that it goes into detail with the ways each element effects the photograph - I haven't been shooting for very long and a lot of these factors would have never occurred to me

A lot of these tips initially strike me as common sense, but there's some real useful resources in this. Definitely a great article for anyone looking to brush up on their portraiture

Wow, these tips are awesome, thanks for sharing them. I am new to photography and enjoying every second of it. Also learning about all the things about my newfound love. I have recently learned about the aperture in photography and tips on how to use it.

This is a nice thread. I just started doing photography and my favourite type of photography is portrait. So this thread is really helpful. Although I have found some more tips about portrait photography .

My main suggestion is that natural portraits are generally better than posed ones. By natural I mean an image of the subject doing whatever he or she normally does without know when the shutter will fire.
