Shooting a lighted tractor parade... tips?

1 year 3 months ago #620444 by desmobob
Tomorrow evening is a Christmas lighted tractor parade in my area.  There are 60 entries so far, so it promises to be entertaining.

The parade starts well after dark.  I'll be shooting with a Nikon D750 and will carry a 35mm f/2, a 50mm f/1.8, and an 85mm f/1.8.  I'll also bring along an SB-800 speedlight.

This promises to be a challenge, at least for me.  Can anyone give me any tips or suggest a starting strategy for good results?

Thanks for any advice,
Bob

Try to position yourself under a street lamp and the 35 ƒ2
for the parade. I suggest you use the flash only for details
and with the 85mm.

Have a good time!

I searched out the brightest corner on the route and shot with my 35mm f/2, shutter priority at 1/60 and auto ISO (it ranged from 1600-4000).  I was pleased with the results.

Make: NIKON CORPORATION
Model: NIKON D750
ISO: 3600
Aperture: f/2.0
