Filming in the dark.

I know this is a photography forum but I'm using a similar camera and hopefully you guys will be able to help anyway.

I'm filming a music video for my A-Level media coursework with a Canon Eos 1300D and the majority of the video I have planned takes place in the dark. Now I know about changing your iso levels so the camera can see better but the problem i have found is when I focus the camera it can pick up so much more than when I normally focus but stops when I let go of the focus. Is there any way for me to permanently film like this?

Your reference video doesn't really explain much to me.

If there's not enough light for the auto-focus system to work, you'll need to put it in manual focus mode. Which means the camera won't track if you move it.

So: something has to give. More light, or manual focus.

Without a better explanation that's the best I can suggest.
