How to fix Purple Hue on Film Negative in post?

3 years 8 months ago #691770 by iKokomo
I like to use older disposable cameras as a form of a guestbook when friends visit. I sent in two cameras to mpix for developing. The first turned out great with good colors, however, the second has a purple shift/hue on the scanned film. (photo attached) I was wondering how I can fix the photos in post-processing? I do not really care about the photo looking perfect (it is the charm of film photography) but I do want to be able to see the people in the photo a little better.

Film hue falls in the colour tab as WB does and that
should be the less critical of your problem. However,
the severe underexposure IS more of a concern here
— to mention anything about the consequent noise.

Maybe I am too… but I see no way to recover that shot.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Honestly I would be very surprised if this photo could be salvaged.  Was it a RAW file?

Film. It's a negative.

To the OP: have you considered the possibility that they messed up the processing?

This isn't digital, and there are no forensics that will help. I believe you're out of luck.
