A bit nervous since the lens was about 1 to 2 inches away. Guess the cooler weather helped.

I have learned, you can get really closed to insects of any kind. As long as you do not disturb them. I have been very close to all sorts of bees with my macro lens.

Excellent shots. Great colours.

That's stellar for a first whack at macro. Nicely done!

Crystal, I really like your 2nd and 3rd shots. And this is true, even wasps ignore you generally, unless you touch them.

Yes, that is true. The day I shot the hornet the 3rd picture. My FIL took my husband and I to a drive thru safari. (we were visiting the grandfather for a week, because the grandmother died and my FIL was at the safari many times). So we stop at the cafe in the middle of the safari. There was this hornet flying around. Of course I had to take pictures. My FIL is telling me to get away, it will sting me. I'm getting closer. lol My husband is just watching me. He loves to watch me shoot, especially macro, I get into my zone. lol So this hornet is flying from flower to flower, around me, around other people. I still get as close as I can to get the shot I want. I never got stung.
