Question about ISO and Nikon D700

13 years 5 months ago #4690 by Gene.Culley
I currently have a Nikon D90 and was told that the D700 is much better in low light. Now thinking to get faster shutter speeds with my D90 in low light, I would need to turn up my ISO setting as one option. I hope this question is going to come across the right way.

So here we go. Let's say in a paticular photo with my D90 my ISO is a 1500 (just for example) and it's on the fence of visually seeing noise. With a D700 taking the same photo, ball park... where would the ISO potentially be before noise would be seen?

You'll start seeing noticable noise at 6400 ISO.

If not properly exposed, you will see noise before 6400.
But Scotty is correct, I was blown away at how the D700 handles high ISO. There are times I leave my camera set at auto iso,(6400 cap) and just shoot away.:)

Why so serious?

I've heard this too.

That said the D3s is one stop better and you can shoot up to 12800iso. Which is great.
