Creative zooming tip

Here's a neat tip for all of the newbies on the forum. I used to use this trick back in film days & older shooters may have forgotten about it. It involves using a zoom with your camera on a tripod. You will need to use as slow a shutter speed as possible ( if needed, use ND filters to get a slower speed). When you trip the shutter, turn the zoom ring (or push/pull the ring on those models so equipped). By varying the zooming speed or direction, or by using different zoom ranges, you can alter the results to create neat effects, all the way to abstract images. Here's a sample below
