Engagement Photo session help

10 years 2 months ago #5704 by Littlewonton64
I have a Canon PowerShot SX20IS and about to take a friend of mine's engagement photos. I'm still learning about this camera and using manual focus (I like it better than auto focus) etc and just need a little help. What's the best way to get the best quality pictures for my friend and also get unique pictures too. thanks

The uniqueness of the photos will come from your imagination and their personality. My best piece of advice would be to work with your aperture. Controlling your depth of field can help you change the feel of a photo even if the framing is the same ( www.dofmaster.com ) .
Take lots of pictures and look at them later on your computer before you decide to keep or erase.
Set aside enough time for your friends (and you) to get comfortable--you'll get better smiles.
That's my two cents, I'm sure others have some ideas too.
