Taking Photos At The Beach

My son is getting married in a few weeks at the beach and he has asked me to take the photogrpahs. I will be using a 18-55mm lens. Should I use a uv filter or a rotating polarizing filter? I am not sure whether the background will the the ocean or palm trees.

It may depend on the time of day or the lighting conditions. If you have a lot of bright light a circular polarizer can give beach photos a very nice look, and help tame the highlights. It may be worth carrying it with you and doing a couple of quick test shots in the light when you get there, it's easy enough to remove if it gets too dark. Remember it's kinda like putting sunglasses on your lens so keep an eye on your shutter speed.
