30 Days of Tuscany- Day 4- CATHEDRALS, ABBEYS & CHURCHES
One of the most photogenic places in Tuscany is the Abbey of Sant’Antimo near Montalcino. Located in the Val d’Orcia very close to Montalcino , this is always on the itinerary of every workshop and tour that we host. This is one of the few churches in Tuscany where you can regularly hear Gregorian chant.
Of course, the Duomos (Cathedral Churches) of Siena and Florence are world renown for their architectural splendor as well. Exterior or interior shots are sure to produce pleasing images.
During our last workshop, we visited Sovana. The group went in one direction and I went in another, trying to pick up a better cell signal. Much to my surprise, I came upon a the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, whose foundation was laid in the 8th century. It was breathtakingly beautiful in its simplicity.
