My knowledge of French, Freddy, gives me access to the
meaning of many words but, given your title, the story tel-
ling totally escapes me… this has nothing to do with the i-
mage in itself as it is a well executed.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

It's Italian not French.
NATA / NATO means birth
Arrestata /Arrestato means arrest
Deportata /Deportato is deportion to in this case Auschwitz.
Assasinata  means assinated
Morto means death.

They are simple memorial plaques to two men and a woman who were arrested , deported to Auschwitz and killed.

I'm not quite sure about the title though?

Not French was known.
Proximity with French made meanings clear
but not the title… nor story telling.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

The title comes from the book written by Hannah Arendt called the Banality of Evil .

The plaques were placed outside the homes of former Jewish citizens of Rome, Italy as a reminder to it's dark fascist past. Those individuals were apprehended by the Gestapo during World War II.
