HELP sd card will not read via card reader

12 years 2 months ago #196568 by Wood
I accidently deleted some images, so I downloaded a recovery program. However, the card reader won't read the sd card
Tried different readers - tried different ports - will read directly from camera but not via reader.

Only thing I can think of is that you have an SDHC card and your reader(s) aren't new enough to recognize it. Go buy a new card reader and give that a try.

Use the cables that came with your camera to connect directly. Just make sure your camera battery is fully charged so it doesn't quit in the middle and corrupt the card.
Also try cleaning the card contacts with an eraser. Might work.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

That's what happened to me. When I got a 4 gig card the old reader wouldn't show any pics. A newer reader took care of it.

Well if it worked for you, maybe I will buy a newer card reader. The ones I do have are a bit old. Thanks.

Good idea, although I can't find the cables that came with the camera, otherwise I would try it. Thanks.

See if it's a mini or micro usb cable. If so you may have one you could borrow from another device like an external harddrive or smart phone.
