Crazy portable tripod - Lumapod

5 years 6 months ago #604508 by MYoung
You know, I normally don't get excited over Kickstarter campaigns.  However this one is actually cool.  It's so compact and it can actually hold a DSLR.  I wonder how stable it is though.

Worth the peek -

Looks like something ideal for mirrorless and smaller cameras.  Genius design, the tension locks it in place.

Portability just got a new name.  Dang.  That is pretty slick.  I don't think I would be placing my DSLR on that one though.  My iPhone or small camera I would.

Size and compactness make this good for a mobile phone. Not a DSLR.

Overpriced, IMO. For that price, if you need to support a  DSLR, buy a 3LT Trent with the feet.

Sorry but I would not use that for my DSLR.  I would be nervous.  For mobile or small mirrorless, yes.

Not something I'd buy...I have a 3LT CF travel tripod plus two monopods and an older heavy duty pod if needed.

I love my 3LT Albert, and a buddy just got a Trent monopod. I get to see that tomorrow. Good thing I don't need another monopod... do I?

Interesting tripod OP.

Man I have been hearing more and more great things about newer 3 Legged Things tripods.  A good friend of mine just bought one, and I have to say, it's a catchy looking thing.  Are you guys using this tripod with their ball head?

I'd be curious to know how sturdy that tripod is when the camera is sitting on it.

Dang, that campaign funded fast.  And 35 days to go.  I'm interested, but need more reassurance on the stability.  Just tough to roll the dice when you have $5000 gear sitting on top of some wires.  If it works, bad ass!

Detail: I have the Albert with the AirHed and it meets my needs at this time.

I'm with you on this one.  I would need to see some more reviews with larger cameras.  This could be a very nice "in case of emergency break glass tripod".

That has got to be one of the most interesting looking tripods I've ever seen.  I would totally use that with smaller camera and my iphone.

OMG this has my sisters name all over it.  I wonder if they are shipping these before holiday?

They created two different models that are rated up to a certain weight, with the larger 4.4lbs.  How did they test this?  Is that stability or downward weight these were tested? A+ for creativity, looks like a selfie stick that was beefed up.
