Yes.  Reading up on all the input in this section helped me to purchase a really nice tripod from 3 legged thing.  I already love it.  The thing is so light and the way all the knobs work is top notch.

My wife is an industrial seamstress so camera strap stuff will be forthcoming.  Customized !!

Congrats!

I've been thinking about getting a Brian.  Mainly because it's the only tripod they have that the convertible monopod is long enough to be useful. (Sometimes I go on little landscape and wildlife hikes and not having to carry around a tripod and monopod would be nice.)

Is the monopod with the center column attached sturdy enough for something like a 300mm f/2.8?

3LT tripods come with rubber feet, but they have options you can get: claws and spikes. I have the claws for outdoors work.
