Moneymaker Solo vs Andino Pro

4 years 11 months ago #642834 by Matt Nguyen
I can't take this Nikon strap that came with my Z6 any longer.  I want to go leather and have found a couple of options.  One is made from a company called Holdfast gear and they have a strap that is called Moneymaker solo which sells for $175.  The other one I found is from a company called RL handcrafts and this strap is called Andino Pro and it's $90 bucks.

So you can see there is a big price difference.  Do you have experience with either off these brands or straps?

Are there any other leather options?

The Moneymaker seems to be very popular. Don't know anything about the other, but I'd look at the connection components to find possible points of failure. The leather isn't the (only) critical part.

You definitely want to get away from a neck strap. Shoulder or harness, or belt system would be the choice.

N.B. the only point behind a manufacturer's neck strap is advertisement. Or posturing.

You aren't kidding.  Man the stock straps are god awful ugly.  I've always saw these as billboards for thief's to know who has what.  For my last two camera bodies I used a Crumpler strap that I have owned for nearly 9 years or so.  Time for change.

From what I can see  both have nice hardware.  That was one of the first things I had noticed as I need something that is ideally easy for me to take on and off.  Regardless which of these straps I go with, they are both heavier than what I had used in the past.  Considering my Z6 is smaller than camera bodies I've owned before, I want something that can attach and detach very quickly and easily.

Stock OEM straps are!  It's free advertising for good people to see AND unwanted attention as well.
