I don't suppose you know if this thing can hold a full frame DSLR on it with out tipping over?

1) It's octopod
2) That's a Joby knockoff. Be ethical, buy a Joby.
3) After a bit of googling (because this is a crap company making a crap product that has no website) the model I found listed a paylod of 275g.  That's just over half a pound. That's for a cell phone.

You be the judge.

You want to support a DSLR, you'll need at least the GorillaPod 3K, better with the 5K, depending upon body size and lens.

Well I don't think this thing is in the same ball park as a Joby, not even close.  Looks like a completely different product IMHO.  But I wouldn't use this for anything much more than a compact camera.

My bad, I found the wrong product when searching. "Octopad" alone lands on a Roland musical instrument, so I tried "octopod".

It would have been helpful of the OP to have provided a link, but since I can no longer edit my response above, just ignore it.

Try #2: assuming we are talking about this , I wouldn't trust it. The listing a B&H says it holds up to 5 pounds, but the problem is that, with a lens, the center of gravity is not over the body's mount point. The product just doesn't seem to make sense to me. Still suggest a GorillaPod. Or a bean bag.

Actually these things are handy.  I don't have one, however my neighbor just picked up one and he uses it with his lights, GoPro and as far I as I see it, it would work great for smaller mirrorless cameras.  You really have to see one in person to see what I'm talking about.  From the photos, I wouldn't be excited about it.

I wouldn't use with a full size camera with long lens, small lens yes and mirrorless cameras and smaller.

A friend of mine picked up one on Adorama, first one was defective, replacement is super useful.  Holds lights, GoPro and his Fujifilm camera.

You know they have a XL version?  I just looked these thing up and found there is a larger version called XL.  For some reason, it's only on Adorama,

Ha!  I did the same thing.  First  search showed the Joby knockoff, but it looks like that is completely different company than the one  making this Octopad thing.  The should show the bottom of it so you can see what sort of grip does it have.

My husband has one of these and some other bean bag style camera mounts that he uses for his nature photography.  From what I have seen with this Octopad is it's super handy, but the original ball head was very cheap.  I want to say my husband is using a ball head from his Gorilla pod on this thing.

James, the bottom is not rubber it reminds me of wetsuits material.  It's grippy.
