Colorado Tripod Co. Aspen Aluminum Ballhead

Have you guys seen this ballhead?  Better yet, do you know anything about this company?  I was looking on Adorama for a new tripod and came across a $1000 tripod from these guys.  Then saw this head.  New brand?

One would guess new brand, yes.

The thing is, many of those that want to turn the camera sideways will buy a good L bracket and be done with it. Moving the entire camera to the side like that causes a center of gravity shift. And while some of us just deal with it, many do not care for that and use an L bracket.

The combined weight of the aluminum head + tripod is about the same as a 3 Legged Thing Albert, at the same price point. The Albert is taller when extended, shorter when collapsed, and 3LT is a proven brand.

Not seeing the advantage here.

Not a new company, this is the same company as Break Through Filters as I understand it.

:agree:   exactly.  I know these guys, they are very serious about making awesome gear.  I have recently tested one of their tripods, it's very well made.  I ditched the center column as I'm not a fan of them.

Gary brought up 3 Legged Thing, these guys are a riot.  I've met the owner on a number of occasions and he's just one of the most driving entrepreneurs you'll find.
