Thoughts on the Manfrotto Advanced2 Fast?

4 years 3 months ago #670961 by hps
I was looking for a good budget backpack for everyday use that allows for fast lens switching, especially ones that allowed me to quickly store and recover the camera+lens without much hassle. I looked into slings, however most if not all seemed small and wouldn't really fit a FF kit, or wouldn't allow for my camera to be stored with the 70-200 f/4 attached.

One of the most interesting contenders in my list is the Manfrotto Advanced2 Fast. It seemed like a good well rounded backpack, but it's somewhat new and doesn't seem to have any reviews that I could find... So:
Does anyone own this backpack? How do you like it? Any off the top complaints with it?

My current kit is a Canon 6D, a 70-200mm f/4 L and a 24-70 f/4 L, with some odds and ends, but I'd like to leave some room for other gear/lenses.

Thanks for any help,

Cheers!

I see you are new here.  Welcome!

To be honest, I don't know this bag and had to look it up.  You are talking about this one right:  https://www.adorama.com/mbma2bpfm.html?origterm=manfrotto+advanced+ii+fast+backpack&searchredirect=true

A few things I like about it:

1. price
2. red inserts
3. For it's size it looks like it holds alot

What I don't like:

1. I don't like that clam shell opening that opens up to get to all your gear.

When I think of Manfrotto, I don't think of camera bags.  Instead I think of tripods and ball heads.  For backpacks, I would look at Lowepro, Thinktank and Peak Design.

Hope this helps!

For a hiker, a pretty solution but fo my working
needs, waaaay too small.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Yup, too small. I need some photo gear and some other stuff....always some other stuff.

Why so serious?

An after thought. I have about eight, maybe nine photo backpacks, all are ok but I have no love for any. The one I use most is a Tamrac adventure 9, just for some out and backs, not large enough for that extra stuff. You try to buy "budget" bags, you'll soon have a closet full of them you mostly never use.....

+1 too small.  Have you looked at the bags from Think Tank or Fstop?

It's a OK bag, however there are others I would consider first.  Some have been mentioned already.   What is your budget for this bag?

Canon 5D Mark II, 30D, 40D, 50 1.2L, 16-35 2.8L Mark II, 24-105 4L IS, 24-70 2.8L, 70-200 2.8L IS, 85 1.8, 4 x 580 EX(II)
