Tripod suggestions

3 years 5 months ago #700901 by Esseff
I am on the look out for a new tripod. I bought a cheap one a while back on Amazon intending only to use it for videos with my camcorder. Its fine for that. But lately I've been using it more and for my camera and its been a pretty awful experience. Its very unstable and one of the brackets keeps breaking. Like I say... cheap. Could anyone recommend a decent brand/model please? FWIW I'm based in Germany (so please no non-EU links). TIA.

Servus SF!

I opted for 4 series five Guitzo's because they had the better
system at the time. FLM did some clever catch up and is a va-
lid solution — as Gitzo still is being waaaay beefier!

If you describe your equipment and your subject, I will suggest
solutions in both lines.

My equipment is very basic: Canon 600D with the bog standard 18-55 lens. Subject is mostly landscape and nature, no people, sports or animals.

That does look very nice. Alas out of my budget at the moment. I am still currently unemployed thanks to covid. I will have to file that away for the future.

I found one a bit more affordable that gets reasonably good reviews (on Amazon and Youtube). I realise it may not be as great as the one you recommended but it'll have to do for the time being.

Yes, Rollei is quite good for the price. Go for beefier
leg segments (max 4) to avoid torsion problems.

I order the Rollei C5i earlier today. Found it a bit cheaper on Amazon.

Mark as solved. :)
