It’s no secret that I absolutely love the holidays. While I don’t especially like getting presents, giving presents is one of my favorite things. I love spending time trying to find the perfect gifts for my loved ones. I love the look on their face when they realize what I just gave them.
That’s why I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time at work this week searching for stocking stuffer ideas. Most photography gift ideas are incredibly expensive, so a good way of still purchasing something sweet for the photographer in your life is by buying them stocking stuffers.
Holdfast Gear, one of my favorite camera accessories manufacturers, has a ton of stocking stuffer ideas this year. Here are some of my favorites.
Holdfast Icon Hat
The Holdfast Icon Hat is one of the cheapest stocking stuffer ideas for photographers, because it isn’t technically marketed at photographers.
But, if you have a photographer in your life, then you know just how crucial their outfits are. The Icon Hat ensures that they can keep the sun out of their eyes while they’re out shooting in the field.
Like every Holdfast product, this hat has a timeless look. It comes in black, navy, or a forest green and features the Holdfast Rope & Arrows logo on a small patch on the front.
It’s made of 100% cotton, so it’s easy to wash after a long day of shooting. It’s also one size fits all, which all great stocking stuffer ideas should be.
You can purchase the Holdfast Icon Hat for $30 here.
Holdfast Pen Caddy Mini
One of the absolute most frustrating things for photographers is not being organized, and for some reason no matter how organized I consider myself to be, I always have an issue remembering to bring pens to my shoots with me.
This is why the Holdfast Pen Caddy Mini is one of my favorite stocking stuffer ideas. It’s just large enough to fit up to 4 pens or pencils, which also means it’s just small enough to be comfortable to carry around anywhere.
This pen caddy is made of leather in chestnut, tan, or black. It easily connects to notebooks via a large velcro strap across the back of it.
Plus, for $45, you can’t really go wrong.

Holdfast EDC Fieldbook
If you’re a little concerned that the photographer in your life may not have a good-quality notebook to pair with a pen caddy, then you can purchase the Holdfast EDC Fieldbook, which includes both a pen caddy and a notebook. There’s nothing like thoughtful stocking stuffer ideas.
This fieldbook comes in an array of colors and is also made of the same, high-quality leather as the pen caddy is.
The fieldbook is designed to carry a notebook (which you can also purchase from Holdfast), pens and pencils, IDs, business cards, and even small tools like a flashlight. It comes with 8 pockets and 5 hanging slots, so the photographer in your life can use it however they want.
And, don’t worry. Your fieldbook will come with a notebook. You can purchase refills for just $7.
If this fieldbook looks like a good stocking stuffer, you can buy it for $85.
Holdfast Whistle
While you likely won’t find any whistles on other “holiday gifts for photographers” articles, I consider myself a pretty adventurous photographer, and that means I need to stay safe.
Whenever I’m out in the field by myself, I carry a ton of safety equipment, like a first aid pack, iodine tablets in case I run out of clean water, and a thermal blanket. I usually rely on my phone for emergencies, but as my son gets older and starts going on more shoots with me, I started to realize that I needed a quick way to “talk” to him while we are out in the mountains. We started using a whistle system.
It’s a quick way to make sure that I’m safe when I’m by myself and it’s great to teach him how he can earn some more autonomy.
Holdfast’s whistles are incredibly loud...shockingly so. That’s really important for me if I were to get in a situation where I needed to flag down first responders.
They come with a small piece of leather which is attached to a hook, so you can easily carry it on your pack. Each one is made of solid metal, so there’s no way you could ever unintentionally (or intentionally) damage it. They’re very seriously built.
You can purchase one in stainless steel, brass, copper, or a mix-match of brass and aluminum. They start at $55.
Holdfast Clip Wallet
This is my final stocking stuffer for photographers. The Holdfast Clip Wallet comes with 3 card slots in the front and 1 card slot in the back, as well as a metal clip for carrying cash or clipping the wallet to yourself or your bag.
This wallet is made of either bridle or water buffalo leather and comes in tan, black, chestnut, or burgundy. For $55, they’ll never need to buy another wallet again.
