Ryan’s masterful shot of this lava flow meeting the ocean is a wonderful example of how to use shutter speed to increase the visual appeal of the image. By slowing the shutter down, the smoke from the lava meeting the water gets beautifully blurred, creating an ethereal element in the photo. That sunlight isn’t a bad addition to the image either!
