The soft light falling on the mountains of Baffin Island was perfectly captured here by Artur Stanisz. The shape of the valley helps create dramatic shadows as the surrounding mountains block the sun’s rays. That not only gives the image excellent dynamic range but also gives it great depth too, keeping the foreground in shadow but the background bathed in light.
