Did You Know?

This workshop includes 7 days packed with photography, instruction, and adventure in the Alaskan Wilderness. Because the lodge is right on the shore of Prince William Sound, we are moments away from photographing bears, whales, and other wildlife each day. We spend each day hiking or touring surrounding waters by boat; exploring, observing and photographing all the stunning wildlife and landscape opportunities this region has to offer.

Prince William Sound encompasses 3,800 miles of coastline and contains 150 glaciers, including 17 tidewater glaciers, the largest of which is Columbia Glacier. More than 220 species of birds, 30 species of land mammals, and at least a dozen marine mammal species are found in the region.

Did You Know?

Grizzlies are a subspecies of brown bears, which can be found in Asia, Europe, and North America, giving them one of the widest ranges of bear species. There are about 1,200 grizzlies in the lower 48 United States, while Alaska boasts a population of over 32,000. While they tend to be solitary animals, they often gather in larger numbers during the summer at prime fishing spots where salmon swim upstream for spawning. A brown bear may eat as much as 90 pounds of food each day as it prepares for hibernation, nearly doubling its weight before denning up for the winter.
