Although they are a newer company (they produced their first camera in 2012,) Blackmagic has taken the world by storm and become a major player in the world of cinema and video. One of their newer cameras, the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, is a powerful and extremely portable video camera used by amateurs and professionals alike.
This high-powered cinema camera was released towards the end of 2018 to rave reviews and continues to be one of the highest sold and most in-demand camcorders today.
Its marquee feature is a 4/3” sensor that delivers incredibly high resolution 4K video at rates of up to 75fps.
Another phenomenal characteristic of this camera is the micro four thirds lens mount. It gives shooters access to a giant lineup of native lenses from companies like Olympus, Panasonic, Sigma, and more.
With a regular selling price of $1,295, it’s a total steal that blows all the similarly-priced competitors out of the water. But if you’re interested in even lower prices, you should consider buying a used camera from a recognizable and trustworthy second-hand retailer like MPB.com. They have a huge selection of used Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras for sale and are one of the best places to find cheap camera gear in excellent condition on the internet.
For a more in-depth look at everything this spectacular camera has to offer, check out our Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K Review! Otherwise, here’s a quick list of the most impressive specs and features of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k:
Best Lens for Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K
One of my favorite aspects of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K is the incredible selection of compatible lenses. From expensive high-end cinema lenses to low-priced third-party lenses, there are fantastic options for everyone, no matter your budget.
If I had to select just one lens, though, I’d recommend the Panasonic Lumix Vario 12-35mm f/2.8 II. When paired with the 4K pocket cinema camera, it delivers a focal length equivalent to 24-70mm, which is extremely versatile and will cover almost any shooting situation.
The consistent f/2.8 aperture creates a drool-worthy bokeh effect while also helping to maintain sharp image quality even when filming in low light situations. Additionally, the lens uses POWER optical image stabilization which comes in handy since the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K doesn’t have in-camera stabilization.
A few of my other favorite Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K lenses are:

Best Cage for Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K
One of the most overlooked pieces of camera gear for people who shoot video is a good cage. Not only do they help protect your camera, but they also improve handling and give you the ability to attach tons of external accessories, which in the end leads to better results.
With that said, without a doubt, my favorite cage for the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K is this Smallrig Camera Cage. It’s designed specifically for the 4K camera and won’t hinder your workflow in any way whatsoever. None of the camera buttons are blocked, and you will still have total access to the battery as well as both memory card slots.
Most importantly, there are numerous mounting points for attaching accessories like microphones, monitors, lights, etc. With this cage, you’ll be able to create the perfect custom setup for your needs, and the only question you’ll be asking yourself is why on earth didn’t you buy one sooner.
Best Tripod for Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K
Since one of the top features of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera is its compact and lightweight body, my favorite tripod to pair it with is one that shares those same qualities. It’s the Manfrotto Carbon Fiber BeFree Live Lever Kit.
Thanks to the carbon fiber legs, this kit weighs in at a minuscule 3.04 pounds, and when folded, it’s one of the most compact tripods on the market. This makes it easy and convenient to transport no matter what type of shooting you normally do.
Furthermore, the fluid head works splendidly and makes recording smooth and stable content super easy. Since there’s no Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K stabilization built into the camera, it’s all the more important to invest in a great tripod for video like this one.
Of course, if you want to save a bit of money, you can peruse the selection of pre-owned tripods and supports at MPB.
Best Battery Grip Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K
One of the biggest complaints about this camera is the battery life, but lucky for you, I have the perfect Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K battery solution. It’s this Blackmagic Design Battery Grip!
As it holds two batteries, when you use this battery grip, you can double the battery life of your camera and transform its biggest weakness into a strength. The average battery normally allows you to film for around one hour, so with this grip, that number changes to a much more impressive two hours.
While you may initially balk at the high price tag, you definitely won’t be complaining after a few uses. The ability to shoot for two hours is an absolute game changer and means less time messing around with the camera and more time recording!
