Today, Spain is a major warm-weather destination for vacations/holidays, so millions flock to the Mediterranean, Atlantic and Cantabrian seashores. Of course, you’ll want many Spain photos of you and your family and friend’s leisure time on the beach, but don’t just lay in the sand. Even if you’ve planned a vacation/holiday on the Costa del Sol or other Mediterranean beaches, reserve some time to head inland to make your Spain photography truly memorable. For the Moorish influence on Spanish culture that can be found throughout Andalusia will bring you face to face with some of the world’s greatest architecture, The Alhambra in Granada, specifically. Originally a fortress, The Alhambra is an overwhelming experience, as you stroll through its grand rooms, courtyards and gardens; and your visit there will always be treasured in the Spain pictures that you take. There is even more magic to experience and capture for your Spain photography in the nearby Palacio de Generalife, a 12th-century palace, and the Albayzín district, with its narrow, winding streets and spectacular views of The Alhambra.

Your quest for great Spain photography may draw you toward the area surrounding Madrid in the center of the country. Within the city, your attention (and digital camera) will be attracted by the major sites, such as the Prado Museum, the Royal Palace, Madrid de los Austrias and Plaza Mayor. Modern Madrid can be found along the Gran Vía and Paseo de la Castellana, with its shops and restaurants. While, for the young, hip and contemporary lifestyle, the place to be and to include in your Spain photos is the area surrounding the Plaza Dos de Mayo, especially Malasaña.

You don’t have to travel far from Madrid for other amazing national treasures to photograph. A short distance to the Northwest is El Escorial. This was the residence of the Spanish monarchy during the 16th and 17th centuries, and an amazing architectural adventure. You can take Spain pictures from a distance, showing how this huge complex of buildings complements the semi-forested Spanish countryside. As you approach El Escorial, you’ll want a wide shot of the magnificence of the main Façade, and then walk through the middle door to the Patio of the Kings and the Basilica. Enter into the grand open space of the Basilica and proceed through the many interior spaces that will keep you snapping more Spain photography.
