Every time I stumble onto new hack that can make my work easier, I get all excited and can't wait to try it out. Some of these tips and DIY hacks have amazing results and they can save you a lot of money. I hope it will be the case with these following 6 hacks that should up your game as a photographer.
1. Forget about the screen protector
Most photographers apply a screen protector to their new camera thinking it will give it some extra protection. The truth is that while it may do that, it will also add a lot of glare, especially on sunny days. It can be very annoying and it misleading when you look at the photos.

2. Have Blu Tac
Blu tac can be very useful in a camera bag. It's one of those things that has natural uses you would have never thought of before having it with you.
3. Use Direct AF selection
If your camera allows it, use direct AF point selection. It will enable you to change the focusing point with by pressing the multi control dial, without having to go into the AF selection menu.
4. Use a business card
Typically, you would think of a business cards as a classic way of giving your contact information to clients. But in the world of DIY photography, they have other uses. One of the best ways to use them is to redirect the light coming from the pop-up flash. If you don't want it directed at your subject, simply put a business card in front of it and it will bounce the light off the ceiling.
5. Use step-up rings
First of all they are really cheap. Second, they will save you the money you were going to spend on a smaller filter. If you have a 67mm ND filter that you want to use on a lens with a 58mm diameter, just use a step-up ring.

6. Convert a microphone stand
If you happen to have a microphone stand lying around the house, simply transform it into a light stand with the help of an adapter.
