Most photographers delete their boring photos or leave them untouched somewhere in the master folder. Now I believe this is a good time to point out the clear difference between a boring photo and a bad one. A boring photo is one that has a subject that is easy to identify, but it lacks that something that makes it interesting and keeps the viewer focused. Boring photos usually have dull light, white skies or faded colors. A bad photo on the other hand has one or more technical flaws. There are a lot of potential mistakes to be made so I'm not going to go into them. But the point is that a bad photo with a major flaw, like poor composition and bad exposure that cannot be corrected is not worth saving.
Assuming you have a few boring photos that would have looked good in the right conditions, let's start by seeing a clear opportunity to save them and make them interesting.

Lightroom is one of the best tools for giving life to dull photos and there are a lot of ways you can do that. This time I want to focus on brush presets. I found using brushes can actually be quite fun, but more importantly, very effective. Photoshop has taught me that, and now with Lightroom, I can use the same techniques and apply them to an unlimited number of photos. The thing about brush presets is that they make your work a lot easier by simplifying the process and making everything a lot quicker.
