There’s no shortage of photography tips for beginners these days. However some of them are worth drawing attention to. Here are 7 of our favorite tips, perfect for anyone new to photography.

1. Fill the frame

What you see in the viewfinder or on the LCD screen is what will appear in the final image. Make sure you have a lot of what you want in there and as little or none of what you don’t. This is the short way of saying composition is essential and if you want good compositions, you should get as close as possible to the subject.

2. Simplify & Exaggerate

After you chose a subject, you’re going to want to make it stand out. Do this by putting it in contrast with something else, experimenting with exposure and composition and try to give the frame some power by creatively using elements around the subject.

3. Don’t center your subject

Placing the subject in the center of your frame will result in a boring, dull image. Get creative and use rules like the golden ratio or the rule of thirds to make composition spectacular.

4. Create depth

There’s a thing called near far composition that you can use to add depth to your pictures. Place a foreground object close to the camera and a background object far away for creating a visual story.

5. The connect dots

Often you will have multiple subjects in the frame. These are all elements that need to work together to have some sort of meaning. The way to connect them is by using leading lines that will help the viewer understand the connection between the elements.

(Success Tip: Shoot people and earn money.)

6. Perspective is everything

This should be the first thing they teach in any workshop or photography class. Changing perspective is the best thing you can do to actually make your photos interesting. There’s nothing more boring than the same old eye level perspective that you use every day of your life. Get up, get down and move around your subject to see in new, more interesting ways and share those views with the people who see your work.

7. Lighting is everything

Not even a good composition will save your photo from bad light. Light is the key to everything in photography and as one of the most important elements in any kind of photography, you need to have full control over it .Unfortunately you can’t always shoot at the best hours, but there are tricks like using a reflector and shooting into the shade that will give you good results even in bad lighting conditions.
